Aradas House by RVDM Architects

Sophie Burton - Thursday, July 26, 2012

Minimalist and boxy, the Aradas House is situated in the town of Aveiro, Portugal. Designed by RVDM Architects, the residence's exaggerated box shape frames the central living area, doing double time as both a sheltered outdoor patio and a striking design feature. Altered ceiling heights in different parts of the house help to give rooms their own distinctive look and feel. For instance, social spaces like the living room have higher ceiling heights than the bedrooms, where lower studs dominate. Wood paneling in the library, study and stairwell creates a feeling of warmth that perfectly balances out the white, paired back aesthetic that runs both inside and out.
