The inaugural Art in the Dark event is launching in Ponsonby's Western Park this Friday night. Exploring and celebrating ideas of community, environment and utopias, it will transform the park into a temporary community hub, illuminated by installations from various artists along with projected short films and performances. Art in the Dark aims to develop new forms of sustainable practices whereby installations will be powered by clean energy including peddle power.

The inaugural Art in the Dark exhibition was held over the weekend in Western Park, Auckland. The installations were excellent, and in some cases simply executed but incredibly effective. Some of these included, trash cans covered in red lights, empty milk cartons suspended in the air and lit from within, and dozens of CD cases hanging from trees with lights shining on them. With such impressive art on display and great visitor numbers we're anticipating this excellent community event is only just getting started with what it can offer in the future.
