Johanna Grawunder's latest work is testament to her background as an architect. Inspired by the vast expanse American desert lands of Arizona, her recent exhibition 'Big Sky' encapsulates Grawunder's ideas of modern architecture and light. She uses thin layers of material to create sculptural pieces which are then punctuated with either LED, halogen or fluorescent lighting. One of the featured pieces is 'Platform', a steel and wood box shape, which lets tiny slices of light escape through strategically placed slits. A discreetly positioned fluorescent light beneath the platform also makes the object look as if it's floating above the ground.
Johanna Grawunder's design is available locally at ECC.
