Blooming Spark I by Hsiao-Chi Tsai & Kimiya Yoshikawa

Sophie Burton - Friday, August 31, 2012

We were rather intrigued when we came across this sculptural chandelier by creative duo Hsiao-Chi Tsai & Kimiya Yoshikawa. Renowned for their unusual large scale works for both private and public spaces, the pair come from textile and sculpture backgrounds respectively, sharing a love for bright, look-at-me colour. Specially designed for London art gallery Vessel, the vibrant light fixture is made from acrylic materials, UV paint and fluorescent bulbs and closely resembles a fluorescent bouquet of alien flowers. A prime example of contrast and contradiction, the Blooming Spark chandelier is synthetic, organic and hand made all at the same time.
