The Medici chair was conceptualised by Munich-based designer Konstantin Grcic and produced by Italian manufacturer Mattiazi. The chair, available in three different wood options - Douglas fir, American Walnut and thermo treated ash, is made up of wooden 'planks' assembled at irregular angles. The use of wood planks is to symbolise the beginning of the production process - 'a tree trunk that is cut into slices'. All joinery is kept on show and adds to the overall aesthetic of the chair.
