Sculptural Interventios by Kilian Ruthermann

Anna Kidman - Monday, December 13, 2010

'Sculptural intervention' is how designer Kilian Ruthermann describes his work. By working with simple substances like plaster, sugar and bitumen he often showcases the several forms each of these can take within his work. For example, bitumen is both solid and broken and plaster is both set and crumbled. His varying treatments of materials allows his sculptures to have a dramatic effect, successfully enabling them to break up otherwise austere industrial environments in a powerful way.
