Swedish design duo, Mattias Rask and Tor
Palm of Glimpt have continued to explore and reflect the culture and
craftsmanship of other countries in the ‘superheroes’ stools. This time they
have drawn from Vietnamese influences drawing on the artisans’ craftman method
to create small bowls by fixing paper thread around rolls of seagrass. The
designers have translated this technique into these small furniture pieces.
Rolls of dried seagrass have been wrapped around the internal metal frame to
create the structural form of the stools, whilst the outside uses colourful
threads wrapped around the seagrass. The result are these strikingly bold and
vibrant stools that demonstrate the merge between Vietnamese craftsmanship and
Scandinavian design.
