Kaleidoscope cabinet by Sebastian Errazuriz

Anna Coe - Friday, September 13, 2013

Sebastian Errazuris' take on a traditional mid-century-style cabinet is truly mesmerizing. His Kaleidoscope cabinet is lined with angled mirrors, so when opened the pieces on display in the cabinet are reflected in multiples, resulting in an hypnotizing spectrum. Errazuriz wanted to the challenge the concept of the standard 'cabinet' and fill 'the space between the void'. There's also a small peephole on one of the sides so that the viewer is able to sneak a look at what the cabinet holds - a reference to a childhood memory of Errazuriz's where an old aunt would always let him look, but not touch her precious pieces of silverware.
